Lakers fans, wasn't the Victory Parade kind of cheesy?
I have been a Lakers fan since 1969, having grown up watching the Laker legends, but I have to say I was disappointed in yesterday's victory parade. I did not go in person, but I did watch on television. The best part of the TV broadcast was the historical retrospective. It was great watching the archival footage of the Laker championship wins in 72, 80, 82, 85, 87-88. The Lakers: the greatest professional sports franchise in history!I felt sorry for the fans that went to the victory parade in person. I mean some of them spent almost 24 hours to simply see the Laker team for a scant 2 minutes. The City, the fans, and the team deserved better. Why didn't the Lakers have a rally where the players could speak to the fans, like they did last year?
Capitalism, what is your problem dude? The Laker franchise was footing the bill, and could have forked over another million to do justice for this great victory. Do you know how much cash Dr. Buss has? He could drop a couple of billion and not even miss it.

I feel like the Cubs are always one big play away by the pitchers and hitters from winning the game, but, in spite of their talent they never seem to do it, because they're pressing to make plays, only to wind up getting burned with killer home runs, or striking out at the wrong time. I've seen a few NFL teams make big plays to win football games, and if the Super Bowl championship teams can make big plays to win games, then why not the Cubs?Which of the following play(s) could help the Cubs get back in the NL Central?
- One big hit from Ramirez or Lee that starts a big inning or a rally, or wins the game.
- One big strikeout or a double play from the starters or relief pitchers to preserve a win

With the development of the automobiles and the techs of building the road, the high way gradually becomes common in my country by which people can drive to a distant city , for instance eight hundred kilometers, within five hours which is the half of the time it used to take. Also , in the cities around the country, most citizens usually take the bus to go to work , school, or parks. An undeniable fact existing theses days is that more and more families have bought their own cars, some even hold two or three cars, and it is the automobile make it possible for them to drive into the moutains to see the attractive secenery or run into the desert to enjoy the excitement of rally race. Personaaly speaking, hardly can people dislike the life with an auotomobile.In addtion,automobiles do good to the development of the socity. Sometimes automobiles make it available to use less labors in the industry. Since automobiles only need drivers to manipulate them, the head of the factory might hire less employees than before when there is a demand of transprtation. Thus , factory can save a large of money which can be invested to the advance of the production. Also, the automobiles make the transportation process more efficient, as we all know that the not only do the automobiles can be loaded even several tons of good , but they can deliver the goods fast.
Finally, the automobiles have a great contribution to the people’s entertainment. Several organization have been set up to hold all kinds of car races, Formula 1, World Ralley Championship , and even a competition in the community which are able to give the car fans much fun . I, a fan of the race, think it a good choice to watch a car race in the Sunday afternoon. Some may think the car race minor,compared to other starring features. Actually, if one study furtherm he will not agree with it.,in as much as the car racrs have elevated a series of industries relating to it, for instance, the tyre-making factory, and the car makers.It is obvious that automobile have not nonly bring the joy to those car fans , but also those workers realting to the car.
As noted before, it is quite safe now to draw the conclusion that the automobiles have changed the peoples live influentially and deeply.

I have a basketball card of Kobe Bryant, year 2000 when he won his first championship. Its not autographed its just the plain card in a small frame with his name on it. The card its in a plastic case in the middle of the frame. On the back of the card says " On 6/4/00, bryant recorded his first career playoff double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds and helped the lakers rally in the fourth quarter of game 7 of the western conference finals to defeat the Trail Blazers 89-84" statistics and it also says its a game jersey edition by upper deck. we lost again to the same team for the fourth year in a row. this summer i worked out every day and my motivation when i was tired was i cant wait till we beat Jackson in the title game. i worked and worked and we lost again. I had 22 points , 7 assists and 5 rebounds. i was also 8/8 at the line but we still lost. we were in the game but then we hit a stretch where our offense was stagnant and we got down 15 but i hit 2 straight 3's to get the lead to single digits and we rallied to take the lead with a minute and 10 seconds left. but we lost AGAIN. if i work out all summer and we still cant beat them do u think it is time for me to pick a new sport?it was my fault i missed the step back 3 to win the game.

Can I have a diagram of a lot of bits and the parts of the leg?
My pony club quiz rally is coming up and labeling the parts of the leg and the different bits seem to be my weakest point. I am determined to qualify for eastern quiz championships, and these seem like key points in the quiz rally.What happened last year was that there were like 15 bits in one of the rooms (either stations or mega room, I can't remember) and you had to write down on a piece of paper the type (snaffle, kimberwicke, or pelham), whether it was jointed or not, the type of ring (D-ring, full cheek, half cheek etc.) and maybe some more I can't remember like the curb chain. All your help is appreciated. I searched a minute ago and found out there that the three main types of bits were curb, hackamore, and snaffle which are NOT TRUE.
Now, another part that I always have trouble with is the part where you have to identify the parts of the leg, and the hoof. Please include the bones and the tendons. Please include everything. And I do not want the scientific names.
You can give me a diagram or a list that shows me where everything is or just get creative.
Please help, and it is greatly apprieciated.

Hey all,I have some stuff.....A lot of stuff. But, I dont know if i should sell it all, some of it, or just keep it. I have the 2 systems i really want...and I don't really have much use for these and i paid a pretty penny for them all.
So, I am looking for advice! Gamestop will not take ANYTHING from this list... so that option is out. So, my other options are: ebay (which i have not had the best of luck with), BullMoose, craigslist...or wait and see if some gamers convention comes around town.

I only just got my nintendo ds lite (red) at christmas so its more or less in perfect working condition, only been played a few times and still in original box with original packaging charger etc. I also have 17 games in total that i want to trade in along with the DS console which are also in good working condition.The 12 PS2 games consist of GTA San Andreas, The Urbz Sims In The City,GTA 3, NHL 2003, Rally Championship, 50 Cent Bulletproof, UEFA Champions League 2006-2007, GTA Liberty City Stories, The Getaway Black Monday, GTA Vice City Stories, Pirates Of The Caribbean and The Sims 2.
The Xbox 360 games consist of Halo 3, PES 2008, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas, Need For Speed Pro Street and Sega Superstars Tennis.

Under the recently elected mayor of the city Michele Campisi (elected in June 2009) it was restored the Settembre Nisseno (September of Caltanissetta). In this month there are some musical and entertainment shows that end on 29th September with the Patron Saint feast, San Michele Archangel.

Got any good Freestyle Dressage music?
I'm going to try to qualify for Dressage championships (for Pony Club) this year. For the qualifying rally there is an optional freestyle competition that, if a high score is received, will up your chances of qualifying. I want to blow away the judges with an amazing *beat*. But I can't seem to find any songs that have a the right beat but doesn't have much singing and isn't *too* intense. Right now I'm looking at music from Pirate's of the Caribbean, which is great, but I'm not sure how to edit it to fit the required moves for Training level. *Any* help/advice is really appreciated! I have raced karts for years now. I am currently living in Washington ST. I am getting bored with karts and won many championships. I think Rally racing required great skill and is something that interests me more than any other racing. It doesnt seem that rallying is a to high of a goal to grasp out of karts. I am 16 and have alot of experience building cars. Where i live now (Spokane) there is no club i believe to race. But i own 300 acres of logging roads for practice. I read and watch about Rallying every night and have been for the past few months. in seattle it seems there is a club that i could compete in every once in a while. My question is, what is the cost annually, and also how much would i have to spend on a car to be someone competitve and also, what classes if any. Are there in Rally racing (Stock, modified? ect. )What kind of car would be a great starter? and is there any schools i should goto to learn, or is it best to just get in and start driving?

Any other Yankee fan here not enjoy Hairston's demeanor after his error ended Pettitte's perfect game bid?
After the game, Hairston talked about how out of all the major league players, he felt the worst out of everyone. He spoke with his head down and spirit low, like he just commited an error that cost his team a playoff series.I don't mind if he said he felt bad or apologized to Pettitte for ruining the perfect game bid, but come on: His team just WON the game! I would hope he would feel better than HALF of the players in the major leagues (who lost that day).
Maybe it's because Hairston's new to the team. But now he plays for an organization that devalues individual accomplishments so much, they won't even put names on their uniforms. If a pitcher was upset at something like losing a perfect game despite the team still winning the game, I'd be more concerned there.
Yes, perfect games are special, but Hairston is after something even more rare: TEAM championships.
That said, I do like how the teammates, including Pettitte, rallied around him after the error. And I hope he used the episode as a learning experience to take a bigger-picture view of the season.

I am the representative of the junior class at my college. I want to inspire more class unity and school pride in the student community, but they are extremely apathetic. It was difficult to get students to come to a pep rally for our hockey who won a championship. We tried feeding them and giving away pricey electronics. We have had celebrities and professional athletes come to the school to be greeted by five bored students we tricked into going. No one shows any interest in anything that happens. How can I get some older games to install on my XP computer?
I've got a few old PC games from 2000 when I got my first computer, and they're all really good and I want to play them again, but I am having trouble installing them. I've now got an XP computer which is only my 2nd PC, and I HAVE played those games on it before, but now they won't even install.Some of these games are Pong The Next Level, Babyz, Detective Barbie (Ok, yes it was my sister's game, but it was still great fun xD).
One thing I've noticed for all these games when trying to install, is that when you try to run it by putting the disk in, nothing happens apart from a "Setup.exe" is added the the processes list on Windows Task Manager, and it stays there but doesn't do anything and the memory it uses never changes.
I've tried Windows Compatibility Wizard, but the games still don't do anything apart from add a Setup.exe process.
I've tried googling my problem, but couldn't find a solution but I did find forum posts and stuff with the same problem, (Setup.exe process being started, but not doing anything), but there was never a definite solution.
So does anyone have any idea how to fix this? I really want to play some of those old games. Some of the old PC games I got with my first computer such as Mobil 1 Rally Championship, Supreme Snowboarding and Rollercoaster Tycoon all work. But some of the games don't. =\

I'm assuming the problem is to do with the games being too old for my computer, but I've played them before on this computer. :\ Is there another method of installing them? I've read on some forum posts with this problem, that people have been able to install the games on their laptop, but not their desktop even if the laptop is say Vista, and the desktop is XP. I had this problem with a Buzz Lightyear game, but it seemed to work on my Vista laptop. :\ But it's not good for playing games and doesn't have much space. It's also broken at the moment, so I can't try installing anything on it. So any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Currently watching misleading news report on CNN about Iran?
Okay, I always adhere to the strict Yahoo! Answers rules about rants and raves, but this is ridiculous.I am currently watching a misleading news report on CNN about the Iranian election. For those unaware, the election was supposedly rigged, and is under scrutiny from the voting segment that lost. There are also massive demonstrations and rallies in the streets of Iran.
So I'm sitting here, and this well spoken, educated guy who came to the US from Iran about 30 years ago, and is now a US citizen, was explaining why the allegations that the election was rigged are false. It was actually a very simple, straightforward, non-rhetorical answer.
He explained that the margin was large enough (11 million, in a country not that big) so that the winning-side winning because of a miscount or rigged election is unlikely. For those who aren't so sharp, that means, that even if.... lets say 100,000 of the winning votes were actually for the side that lost, it still wouldn't have made a difference in the results - the same side would STILL have had enough votes to win.
When the dumb reporter asked something along the lines of "well how do you explain the 42 million votes being hand counted in a matter of hours?" alluding that there was obviously some kind of foul play, and that the process went by so fast because the votes were not even counted. But he replied "It's not unbelievable that the votes came in so fast because there are 60,000 people counting them. When you do the math, each one of those people only had to count about 700 votes each. You, I, or most people could count 700 votes in a matter of 6 to 8 hours." Completely true.
The dumb reporter seemed totally miffed by this. The quickly and sharply bites back "Yeah but it was in only 4 hours! How do you explain that?!" Nothing changes. A single person is still easily capable of counting 700 votes by hand in a matter of 4 hours, which equates to counting 175 votes per hour.
Then the dumb reporter goes on to say "Well if the elections weren't rigged, how do you explain the thousands of protesters in the streets?" As if people only protest when they have a legitimate claim. Just because people are upset that they have lost, does not mean that they have been cheated. Just like professional athletes get mad when they lose the championship game, even though the score still stands and is legitimate. Just because the other team won fairly doesn't make the sting of defeat any less painful. These people are mad they lost, and are protesting. It's as simple as that.
Before I get grilled on here, lets clear up any misconceptions about ME so that people don't think this is a biased post. (Which by the way, if you decided flame me just because of my views rather than my argument would be an ad hominem argument anyways.) I'm a 22 year old, born and bred American from San Diego, CA. Don't let the news, even a 'trusted' source like CNN dictate what you do or think. Do not take what they say as face value, and don't believe it just because it's convenient. Use some critical thinking, and play devil's advocate, even if the tilt is in your favor. I voted McCain, but just because I hear something on right-leaning Fox News does not mean that I believe it. I am critical of them too.

IAAW - Could you be any less mature? This is just critical analysis of stuff I heard from CNN, and I am telling you how the anchor lady was clearly dodging the 'supposed facts' and making rash, illogical conclusions.
Forget that the topic at hand deals with Iran. That's not the point. The point is how the media was attempting to broadcast a misleading report. What concerns me is that I'm sure it's not limited to this news story alone, but tons of other stories we hear about on the news.
Lee - I have not made an opinion about if the Iranian election was fair or not. Nor do I care. What does concern me (which I think most of the answerer posters don't seem to realize) is that the news was attempting to slant the story.
San Jose - You didn't read my entire post if you didn't find your answer to the 40million votes being hand counted. I am not conferring any thing the press announced, but apparently there were 60,000 (sixty-thousand) people assigned the task of hand counting the votes, which comes out to about 700 votes to count per person, which actually isn't very hard to manage in a course of 2 days (or as I heard, 6-8 hours).

My daughter is 13 years old, about 85-90 pounds, and 4ft 10. She started playing baseball in 2004 but just started to develop her skills. In 2005, she was speedy quick (only 9 years old) and beat out 13 out of 14 BOYS rounding the bases. But, in that season her hitting was not so good (until the championship where she got off her slump and lead off their rally to win.) In 2006, was her year. ( Baseball runs in our family) (Her first position was 2nd base, then started shortstop, then in her previous year, began pitcher. This year she will continue on with probably pitcher and shortstop.) Anyways, in 2006 she was consecutive in all the games. Outstanding pitcher making the boys look dumb, she was the lead off hitter, and barely struck out and almost always got on base. In 2007 she started playing softball (too old for that baseball league) and HATED it. It wasn't her game. So, this summer in July most likely, she will began to play baseball again. She wants to learn how to get all her skills back. Speed, pitching mechanics, hitting accuracy, and some defensive skills. Any help would be appreciated. San Antonio won championships in 1999, 2003, 2005 and 2007, leading to the odd-year theory that the Spurs are due for another title this year. Unfortunately, that theory just looks odd right now. With Manu Ginobili sidelined for the season and Tim Duncan battling knee problems, the Spurs don't have the firepower necessary to go all the way.
